Reliable Documents

'Just Stories?' #32

What's in the series?      Previous: Scrolls from Ketef Hinnom      Next: What Next?

Is the Bible that we have today what the authors wrote? Or has it been changed and corrupted through time? In the past few videos in this series, we’ve looked at some of the evidence that we do have today what the authors originally wrote.

The evidence of the Dead Sea Scrolls shows that the Old Testament documents have been copied accurately at least since the time of Jesus. And the evidence of the miniature scrolls from Ketef Hinnom shows that at least some parts of the Old Testament were copied accurately for six hundred years before that.

Whenever an older copy is discovered, it always confirms that the Bible has been  copied accurately for hundreds or even thousands of years. What we have today is what the authors wrote. It has not been changed or corrupted through time. We can trust it.

‘Although I was once sharply critical of the argument to design, I have since to come to see that, when correctly formulated, this argument constitutes a persuasive case for the existence of God.’ – Professor Anthony Flew
